Liberty Bank, one of the largest banks in Connecticut, plans to close three branches this fall - a decision that bank officials attribute to the ongoing rise of digital banking. Middletown-headquartered Liberty has submitted a notice of the scheduled closing in November of its branches at 445 W. Main St. in Branford; 116 Bridge Road in Haddam; and 1009 New Haven Road in Naugatuck, according to a bulletin posted on the state Department of Banking's website.

Marine drafters at submarine manufacturer General Dynamics Electric Boat overwhelmingly approved Tuesday a new five-year contract, resolving a difficult negotiating process that nearly led to the workers going on strike. The new agreement was endorsed by 84% of the approximately 1,900 marine drafters who cast votes, according to results posted Tuesday night on the Facebook page of the marine drafters' union, UAW Local 571.

WALLINGFORD — Connecticut-based machinists at jet-engine maker Pratt and Whitney voted Tuesday to approve a new contract, an endorsement that ended their three-week strike. The new four-year agreement was endorsed by 74% of the 2,170 machinists who voted at a meeting at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford. As a result, the machinists will return to work on Thursday, after a paid day off on Wednesday.
