Victorian jockey Blake Shinn has had a day to remember in New Zealand, securing the inaugural NZ$3.5 million NZB Kiwi slot race with an inspired ride on board Damask Rose. Shinn also picked up the Group 1 Sistema Stakes earlier in the meeting, which has been acclaimed as one of the biggest days in New Zealand racing history, also for Te Aku Racing. The victory gave Shinn his 30th at the elite level.

Pointsbet is seemingly at the centre of a bidding war between a Japan-based operation and local betting firm Betr. Pointsbet announced on Wednesday morning that it had agreed to terms to sell itself to Mixi, an operator based in Japan. Pointsbet said it has accepted a cash offer of $1.06 a share from Mixi, which is attempting to grow its market share in Australia through its BetM app. Betr announced on Wednesday that it too wants to buy Pointsbet, valuing its competitor at more than $360 million.
