By Paula Pyzik ScottThe Bluffton Sportsmen’s Club will host its 81st annual Trout Derby on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Buckeye Lake. Should a club member catch trout No.1 between 2:00-4:30 p.m. on Derby Day, they will receive half of the day’s jackpot plus $1,000. In total there will be over $4,000 in cash and prizes on tagged trout in the quarry. In 2024, the jackpot was $2,250 and half went to Cory Glick.

By Paula Pyzik ScottNew Village Administrator hired with May start dateThe Village of Ada Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 15 with actions and discussion including electricity and gas aggregation contract decision making and the hiring of a new village administrator. PUBLIC COMMENTAndrew R. Tutor, a candidate for Judge of Hardin County Municipal Court on the May 6 ballot, introduced himself to council. Tutor is the current Hardin County Municipal Prosecutor.

Volunteers who support the three Et Cetera Inc. shops–the Et Cetera Thrift Shop, Book ReViews and Bluffton Ten Thousand Villages–were recognized for their impact on Bluffton’s downtown commercial district. Celebrations took place at the fellowship hall of First Mennonite Church.

Provided by the Hardin County Community FoundationThe Hardin County Community Foundation Board of Trustees approved the awarding of 143 grants at its quarterly meeting Tuesday in Kenton. The Grant Committee met on April 4 to review the 157 requests for funding before selecting the 143 proposals. The announcement of the grant recipients is expected by May 1.

By Paula Pyzik ScottThe Bluffton Area Ministerial Association (BAMA) invites the community to participate in the April 18 Good Friday procession of the Cross beginning at 11:30 a.m. at English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St. The procession stops at six BAMA member churches where blessings and prayers will be offered by local clergy. This is a Bluffton tradition of 25 years or more.
