PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP/Gray News) - Nearly 150 dogs were rescued from a home in West Virginia. The Humane Society of Parkersburg said 146 canines were recovered from a single location late Wednesday afternoon. Samantha Tannous, the shelter manager, said a tip came in from a neighbor of the home, who notified them there were at least 10 chihuahuas inside the house.

Kyle Scott is the new principal of Warren High School after resignation of the prior principal and has been excited as the first day was a blast for him. “First day went awesome,” Scott said. “We met with the kids in the gym earlier today and we’ve been going over different rules, expectations, and things like that with them.

In nearby Palestine in Wirt County is one of the locations, alongside Arnoldsburg in Calhoun CountyRobert Turner, the president of the beekeeping association, says it’s important for people learn how to do beekeeping with classes so they can understand how they can keep them alive.

MINERAL WELLS, W.Va. (WTAP) - The golf course in Mineral Wells hosted there fishing derby for kids under 16 in the nearby ponds on the course. Awards were given to the most fish caught, biggest fish, and even the smallest fish. Although, everyone would receive a prize participating in the event. Richard Wilson, the owner of the course, said that this is a great experience for families together with something active.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - With homecoming just days away, it’s important that people are informed about the flow of traffic going on in the city of Parkersburg. Matthew Board, the chief of police for the City of Parkersburg, said that the road delays will begin in Parkersburg and across parts of Wood County starting at around 7:30. “I would suggest taking a little bit of extra time in the morning, maybe leaving or planning for those delays,” Board said.

MARIETTA, OH (WTAP) - The Missoula Camp is hosting their last performance of the summer on August 16th with the production of Sleeping Beauty. Children were invited on Monday to audition and a total of 37 kids will be part of the production on Friday. Miranda Duty, the general manager of the Peoples Bank Theatre, said the production was brought back last year, and she’s hoping for future productions to come. “We originally started the Missoula Children’s Theatre back in 2016,” Duty said.

LITTLE HOCKING, OH (WTAP) -During the summer drought, it’s important to be safe when burning brush or any other types of burns as it can become dangerous. Mike Chevalier, the fire chief for the Little Hocking Fire Department, says it’s safer to do burns in the early evening. “The two things that really cause problems during the day are the wind and the humidity dropping,” Chevalier said. “Everything is drying out. That is why we try to get people to do any burning in the early evening.

MARIETTA, OH (WTAP) -The festival is taking place all over the Mid-Ohio Valley with many people from all over coming to take part in the Rivers, Trails, and Ales Festival for the 4-day event. Some of the activities include mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, and other kinds of walks are available as they span across Washington and Wood County. Debbie Lazorik, an officer of the River Mountain Bike Association, said everyone, including the volunteers, are proud to have this festival happen.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) -St. Andrew’s has been doing give and take events for the last three years and this event was to let people give school supplies, while families would also be able to take what they need for kids to have those supplies to go back-to-school. Shawna Umpleby, the children’s ministry coordinator at St. Andrew’s, said that the give and take events were inspired from a Sunday School lesson. “It was about love not being just the word love, but an action,” Umpleby said.
