PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) -Different organizations were honored during the Wood County Board of Education meeting on Tuesday. Different bands from around the county were honored and so were SkillsUSA winners. Ten of those students came back with medals.  There was also a community service presentation by “Serenity Styles.” Stephen Tupitza was chosen as Teacher of the Year for Wood County.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A tractor trailer hit low-hanging lines on Route 50 near the 22.5 mile marker at 1:45 on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department. Deerwalk VFD found power lines and communication lines across all four lanes of Route 50. Additionally, a brush fire had started in the power line right of way. Additional help was requested from Eastwood, Waverly, Cairo, and Ellenboro to help with the fire and with traffic.
