PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A tractor trailer hit low-hanging lines on Route 50 near the 22.5 mile marker at 1:45 on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Deerwalk Volunteer Fire Department. Deerwalk VFD found power lines and communication lines across all four lanes of Route 50. Additionally, a brush fire had started in the power line right of way. Additional help was requested from Eastwood, Waverly, Cairo, and Ellenboro to help with the fire and with traffic.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - A man crashed his motorcycle on Monday afternoon near the Juliana Street Bridge. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office says the man went off the road at the 5.5. mile marker of US 50 West around 3:16 p.m.He was thrown about 100 feet from the bike. Bystanders helped him until an ambulance got there. He was unconscious, but breathing when he was taken to WVU Medicine Camden Clark. The sheriff’s office says they may release the man’s name on Tuesday. Copyright 2024 WTAP.

Vienna, W.Va. (WTAP) - Vienna City Council listened to the Trasher Group at its meeting on Thursday about the design for an amphitheater at Spencer’s Landing. The group also discussed the master plan for that area. The Thrasher Group says it wants to listen to the community and it is their job to determine if it’s a good or bad idea and what is achievable on the property. The group representative said he will put a survey draft together that council will be able to look over.

ATHENS, Ohio (WTAP) - Two cars were involved in a wreck on Athens on Route 50 at Brimstone Road. at 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday. Troopers say an oversized load semi was trying to turn left onto Brimstone from 50. A man in an SUV tried to swerve to avoid hitting the semi. Traffic was backed up for about an hour. The driver of the SUV was entrapped and he was flown to Grant Medical Center. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says his injuries are serious, but non-life threatening.
