NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) -- The Neosho County Sheriff's Office, alongside many state agencies, continue the search for the body of a 12-year-old boy following a train crash. The Neosho County Sheriff's Office says the river is approximately 10 feet lower Friday morning than it was when the search began. Today, crews will continue to search for Kollin Showwalter, of Erie, Kansas.

PITTSBURG, Kan. (KOAM) - The Kansas Board of Regents approves a new president for Pittsburg State University. The KBOR held a special meeting on Friday to discuss the search for the next president of PSU. They went into an executive session and after returning to open session - say they have chosen Dr. Thomas W. Newsom as the new president. Dr. Newsom is currently the President of Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma.

VERNON COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is warning drivers about a bridge closure in Vernon County. According to MoDOT, the Route E Bridge over McCarty Creek will be closed from June 23 until June 27. MoDOT says the closure is due to crews working on the deck of the bridge.

LABETTE COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) -- Crosstimbers Food Pantry and the Labette County Farm Bureau are teaming up to help bring meat to tables in Labette County. The partnership is aimed at helping to feed families in Labette County with locally raised meat by area farmers and ranchers. “Many of the people we serve are working families who don’t qualify for government assistance but still struggle to put food on the table,” said Jennifer Mathes, director of Crosstimbers Food Pantry.

(KOAM) -- The FDA is warning consumers about a recall involving Little Remedies Honey Cough Syrup. According to the FDA, the cough syrup may be contaminated with Bacillus Cereus, which is a type of bacteria that can cause food-borne illnesses. The recalled cough syrup was sold nationwide though retailers and online from December 14, 2022 through June 4, 2025.

Press Release On 06/18/2025 at approx. 12:39, the Neosho County 911 Center received a report from the Union Pacific Railroad that two individuals had been struck on the Railroad Bridge south of Erie near 115th Rd. The Sheriff’s Office, EMS, and members of the St. Paul Fire Department and the Erie Fire Department, and Union Pacific Railroad immediately responded to the scene.
