CHEROKEE COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) - Authorities believe human remains found near Columbus, Kansas are those of a 19-year-old reported missing in 2023. According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, they took a call about human remains found in a wooded area just west of Columbus. Deputies along with Columbus Police Officers responded to the area and found skeletal remains. Authorities say there were also personal items in the area that identified the person as Jaden Santini.

COMMERCE, Okla. (KOAM) - Two people are now federally charged in the murder of a 2-year-old in Commerce, Oklahoma. A grand jury has charged 32-year-old Daniel Ash and 30-year-old Amber Murphy in the same indictment each with Second-Degree Murder in Indian Country and four counts of Child Neglect in Indian Country. Additionally, the grand jury charged Ash with Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Minor Under 12 years old in Indian Country.

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - Customers in Miami (Oklahoma) and Joplin (Missouri) both see power outages. Around the noon hour at least a thousand Liberty Utilities customers were without power. By 1:40 pm most of those customers' power was restored. At around 3:30 pm, in the companies southwest Missouri and southeast Kansas coverage area, they're reporting about 465 customers without power. In Miami, Oklahoma, as of 1:40 pm, there were about 1,100 Electric Cooperative customers without power.
