    MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) - Authorities are investigating what they call an attempted murder-suicide in southeast Missouri. According to Sheriff Robert Evenson, the incident started on Pine Tree Drive in southeast McDonald County. Shortly before noon on Thursday, a deputy responded to a domestic disturbance call. The deputy arrived, went up to the door and heard gunfire from inside the home. The deputy took cover until another deputy got there.

    JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) - A Joplin High School student and his mother have filed a lawsuit against the school district and his principal, alleging that the district's failure to prevent and respond to bullying led to a violent attack on the student. The lawsuit was filed on May 20, 2025, in Jasper County, Missouri by Michelle Davis on behalf of her minor son against Joplin Schools and Principal Randy Oliver.

    PARSONS, Kan. (KOAM) - After months of investigation, authorities say an Oswego man is in custody in connection to a fentanyl and meth overdose death in Parsons, Kansas. Parsons Police found 33-year-old Stormy Watson unresponsive in her bedroom on November 6, 2024. Following an autopsy, the coroner concluded she died from an accidental overdose. The autopsy report stated Watson died of acute combined drug intoxication involving fentanyl and methamphetamine.
