Our study assessed the additive effect of MetS on LV function, MEEI, and myocardial strain in INOCA patients using CMR feature tracking. The principal findings were as follows: (1) INOCA patients exhibited impaired LV myocardial strain, particularly in the longitudinal direction, and with MetS aggravated damage of LV GLPS. (2) Both LVSVI and MEEI were significantly decreased in the INOCA patients with MetS compared to those without MetS.

The study protocol was approved by the West-China Hospital of Sichuan University Biomedical Research Ethics Committee, and due to the retrospective nature of the analyses, no written informed consent was required. We retrospectively collected hospitalized patients who underwent CMR scans from January 2013 to October 2023. The diagnosis criteria for MetS followed the 2009 Joint Interim Statement of the International Diabetes Federation Task Force on Epidemiology and Prevention [16].

The child, a girl aged 7 years and 9 months, was admitted to the hospital with "headache and abdominal pain for 12 days and numbness and pain in the limbs for 4 days", during which she had cold symptoms such as low fever and itching all over the body, without rash. She was treated with cetirizine orally. The pruritus slightly improved, but she still had a headache, abdominal pain, limb numbness, and pain in both lower limbs.
