The Reagan Park Splashpark is open. The free, water-enhanced playground opened early this year. The water features in the park were turned on Thursday, April 10, which is more than a month earlier than normal. The community splash pad typically opens on Memorial Day weekend and is open for water play until Labor Day weekend.

Blue and silver pinwheels and children’s shoes adorn the Anderson County Courthouse lawn in recognition of April being National Child Abuse Prevention Month. A ceremony was held Friday, April 11, for local child advocacy groups to promote awareness of child abuse happening in the community, as well as preventive steps, recognizing the importance of families and communities working together to strengthen families to prevent child abuse and neglect.

Palestine Mayor Mitchell Jordan is giving a State of the City address at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, in the city hall conference room. “I believe a State of the City address is very important,” Jordan said. “It gives us an opportunity to hear from the mayor, what the state of the city is.
