The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the shooting that occurred May 5 in Frankston. Micheal Stephens, 56, was arrested Monday, May 19, on a warrant charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into the Anderson County Jail without incident, according to Sheriff Rudy Flores, after the arrest, which was made by Cpt. A. Pearson and Deputy B. Hay.

The city of Palestine is considering issuance of certificates of obligation for a major renovation to the city Athletic Complex, improvements to the Southview Lift Station and to complete the Downtown Revitalization Project. During its meeting Tuesday, the council discussed a resolution that would authorize the publication of a notice to issue a bond not to exceed $20 million for these three projects.

This Saturday, 100 students from the Palestine area and a group of volunteers will board buses for a field trip, sponsored by Community Mpact to AT&T stadium. During this field trip, students will tour the home of the Cowboys football team. It’s hard to remember that 10 years ago, this was just a vacant lot. The Pionette Garden Club Landscape Garden was once the site of a retail building that was burned to the ground. The lot at Houston and Oak streets, in the Main Street District, was donated to the city in 2012.
