On January 5, a piece of a B-737 MAX 9 violently blew off the airplane as it was climbing over Portland, Ore., opening a large hole on the side of the aircraft and terrifying passengers. Thankfully, no lives were lost, in large part to the pilots and crew who were able to remain calm and execute a successful emergency landing.
