AbstractData from the first phase of the Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN) are now available, comprising 8,425 biospecimens from 2,042 research participants profiled with more than 20 molecular assays. The data were generated to study the evolution from precancerous to advanced disease. The HTAN Data Coordinating Center (DCC) has enabled their dissemination and effective reuse.

AbstractTriple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive breast cancer subtype and has the highest rate of recurrence1. The predominant standard of care for advanced TNBC is systemic chemotherapy with or without immunotherapy; however, responses are typically short lived1,2. Thus, there is an urgent need to develop more effective treatments. Components of the PI3K pathway represent plausible therapeutic targets; more than 70% of TNBCs have alterations in PIK3CA, AKT1 or PTEN3,4,5,6.

AbstractInflammatory pain results from the heightened sensitivity and reduced threshold of nociceptor sensory neurons due to exposure to inflammatory mediators. However, the cellular and transcriptional diversity of immune cell and sensory neuron types makes it challenging to decipher the immune mechanisms underlying pain.
