Establishing a national slavery memorial on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. is a good idea. It is something Democrats and Republicans can all support together, incumbents and challengers. There is nothing embarrassing about agreeing on a shared belief. If Germany can have their Holocaust Memorial right in the center of their capital city, Berlin, we can have our national slavery memorial right in the center of our capital on the Washington Mall.

Tom Condon penned a good article on pedestrian and cyclist fatalities in The Connecticut Mirror on April 21, but, in my opinion, missed the other half of the causes of increased fatalities of pedestrians and cyclists: civil engineers and politicians. Dear Residents of Stamford,You are being lied to. A large, expensive, yellow political mailer went out to voters in Stamford asking them to “Vote No” on the charter revisions. This mailer is loaded with lies and statements that are not factual. The charter revisions that are proposed will actually make our city government more accountable, transparent, and democratic. They would require more public outreach and even more public hearings on decisions that the city faces.
