    After former Claremont Police Department Chief Paul Cooper administered the oath of office, applause erupted within the DoubleTree on April 17 as Mike Ciszek officially became CPD’s 14th chief. A pinning ceremony followed, with Laurie Ciszek planting the chief’s badge on her husband; their children Eli Ciszek and Lillie Ciszek, the chief’s four silver stars on his collar.

    Larry L. Schiller: Veteran, volunteer, dog loverLarry L. Schiller died suddenly at home on March 9 after a long battle with cancer. Larry was born in Craig, Colorado on November 29, 1938. He was a resident of Claremont for 48 years, and was a letter carrier in Pomona for 30 years. Larry was a veteran, he was active with the Pomona Jaycees, Chino Jaycees, the National Hot Rod Association, American Legion, his RV group, and many other organizations throughout the years.
