Categories: April 1, 2025 State University Theatre and Dance will be performing a bluegrass musical, “Bright Star.” from April 3 through 5 at 7:30 p.m. and April 6 at 2:00 p.m.The musical was written by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell. It was inspired by the true story that they heard about a baby being thrown off a train in a suitcase and surviving. Brooklyn Mauch, who plays Alice, said her favorite moment of the show is the first few verses she sings in the opening song.

Turn of the Screw, the third production in the university’s theater and dance season, finished its run this past Sunday. The show, described as disturbing, psychological and horrific, held the audience’s attention from start to finish. Out of the 346 audience members, 164 were SDSU students. Turn of the Screw is a chilling play written by Jeffrey Hatcher based on Henry James’ gothic book.

The producers of Capers are back with a new original production. Members of the Alpha Psi Omega (APO) fraternity have written their own murder mystery play, “A Royal Murder Mystery,” that will be presented in the Fishback Studio Theater Nov. 2-3 at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.The Murder Mystery Committee within the organization wrote, cast, directed and designed this 30-minute show. Admission is $5 or two nonperishable food items that will be donated to Jacks Cupboard.

With the season’s theme being “Freedom,” State University Theatre and Dance’s first production of the year opens this Thursday at 7:30 p.m. with “Fuddy Meers.”“Fuddy Meers” follows an amnesiac, Claire, who is abducted by a man who claims her husband wants to kill her. Kennedy Foster, a sophomore journalism major and cast member, said, “I would describe ‘Fuddy Meers’ as riding a roller coaster with a blindfold on.
