    JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (WIBW) - A pair of drug busts Wednesday evening in Junction City netted authorities a variety of illegal drugs, weapons and cash, officials said. The drug busts took place around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at residences in the 1100 block of Haven Drive and the 2200 block of Thompson Drive in Junction City. Officers from the Junction City Police Department and Geary County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants at the homes.

    TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Interstate 70 ramps at two roads in western Shawnee County were scheduled to be closed on Friday, Kansas Department of Transportation officials said. The on- and off-ramps on westbound I-70 at S.W. Carlson Road and S.W. West Union Road were to be shut down from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, officials said. Ramps on Interstate 70 at S.W. Carlson and S.W. West Union roads in western Shawnee County were to be closed on Friday, officials said.(MGN)No posted detours will be listed.

    TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - The Topeka Community Foundation on Tuesday evening will honor more than 85 scholarship recipients from high schools across Shawnee County and the state of Kansas. The event is set to begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at the Topeka County Club, 2700 S.W. Buchanan. The program honoring the students will begin at 7 p.m.More than $140,000 in scholarships will be awarded to the students during the program, officials said.

    TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Crews extinguished a mobile home fire Thursday evening on the city’s south side. The blaze was reported around 6 p.m. Thursday at a mobile home at 3831 S.W. South Park Avenue. According to Battalion Chief Brian Ginter, first-arriving crews found flames and smoke coming from the mobile home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, Ginter said. No occupants were found inside the mobile home and no injuries were reported.

    Share SENECA, Kan. (WIBW) - A funeral service is taking place Thursday morning for a beloved Roman Catholic priest who was fatally shot this past week in Seneca. A memorial Mass for the Rev. Arul Carasala will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 411 Pioneer St. in Seneca. Carasala previously served at Augustine Catholic Church in Fidelity; Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sabetha; and St. James Catholic Church in Wetmore.
