Fans gathered at Evergy Plaza for a watch party to see the Topeka native fight for a National Championship on Friday night. Canady and the Texas Tech Red Raiders fell 10-4 to Texas in the winner-takes-all Women’s College World Series Championship series finale, ending the year as National Runners Up. Regardless of the result, local fans were excited to support the star athlete.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - Every year, the Rock Chalk Roundball Classic raises money to benefit select local children battling cancer. In 2025, they’re adding to the generosity. Voice of the Jayhawks and Rock Chalk Roundball Classic Director Brian Hanni announced on Friday that they’ll also be benefitting one local parent fighting cancer this year, in addition to the six local children.

EMPORIA, Kan. (WIBW) - A collapsed sanitary sewer line was located near the Bunge facility in Emporia. The city is responding to the situation. According to the City of Emporia, the affected line is a 24-inch cast iron pipe encased within a 36-inch casing pipe that runs under the railroad tracks. The city noted that the break happened at the casing and a further inspection revealed corrosion along the full length encased pipe.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - From archery clinics, to fly fishing and turkey calls, kids can enjoy a whole day of fun in the outdoors this Saturday at Ravenwood Lodge. Bev Corbet with the Justin Corbet Memorial Foundation visited Eye on NE Kansas to share details of this year’s Youth in the Outdoors Day. Bev said she and her husband started the foundation in memory of their son, Justin. He was killed in a motorcycle wreck 20 years ago.
