Broc Feeney has returned to the winners’ circle with two convincing wins at the Symmons Plains Supercars round. The Triple 8 Chevrolet driver started from the front row in both races, and even if he had to fight hard, emerged with maximum points in the two 50-lap races at the historic Tasmanian track. As a result, he replaces team-mate Will Brown as the championship leader.

The rebuild of General Motors’ Supercars program is due to take a big step this weekend at Symmons Plains. That may sound like an odd thing to say during the 2025 championship, in which a Chevrolet driver – Will Brown – leads the points, there are five Chevrolet drivers in the all-important top 10, and Triple Eight leads the teams’ standings. Matt Payne took advantage of Grove Racing’s speed and some messy racing from the opposition to take his second Supercars win of the weekend at New Zealand's Taupo Motorsport Park. Payne emerged from an opening lap skirmish to take the lead and drove to a conventional pit strategy to take his fourth Supercars race win by 3.19 seconds. In doing so, Payne secured the Jason Richards Memorial trophy, named for the popular NZ-born driver who was taken by cancer in December 2011.

Ford has swept the podium positions in the two opening Supercars races at Taupo Motorsport Park in New Zealand. Matt Payne and Chas Mostert took their Ford Mustangs to victory lane in the races, leaving the Chevrolet Camaro drivers in their wake. On the soft tyre, as opposed to the supersoft in use at the track for the first time, Payne led away from pole in the opening race and never looked back.
