The UT Tyler Patriots, defending national softball champions, are headed back to the Super Regionals for the fourth consecutive season. The Patriots, the No. 1seed, scored an 8-0 win over No. 4 seed Oklahoma Chris-tian on Saturday to capture the South Central Regional I title at Irwin Field. UT Tyler (55-4) advances to meet No. 2 seed West Texas A&M (55-6) later this week in Tyler. Game 1 of the best-of-three Super Regional series is set for Thursday with games 2 and 3 slated for Friday.

Sawyer Dunagan led off the bottom of the ninth with a homer, lifting the Tyler Junior College Apaches to a 7-6 win over the Alvin Dolphins in an elimination game in the Region XIV North Tournament elimination game at Cavalier Baseball Field in Bossier Parish, Louisiana. With the score tied at 6-6, Dunagan, a freshman from Hallsville, hit the game-winner. The Apaches are scheduled to play Bossier Parish at 1 p.m. Saturday in another elimination game.
