Getting paid to watch baseball, specifically the Minnesota Twins for the Star Tribune. No, I can't believe it, either.

SEATTLE - When J.P. Crawford smacked Chris Paddack's 104th pitch for a double on Sunday, the Twins righthander knew what that probably meant. Sure enough, someone stepped out of the dugout and began walking to the mound. Except, to Paddack's surprise, it was pitching coach Pete Maki to confer, not manager Rocco Baldelli to end his day. "It's funny. Pete was like, 'Hey talk to me, what do you want to do here?' I said, 'I want to face [Jorge] Polanco],' " Paddack recounted.

SEATTLE - Parting is such sweet sorrow for the Twins lately. Well, sorrow. Julio Rodriguez led off the ninth inning with an infield single off Griffin Jax, stole second and moved to third when Ryan Jeffers' throw sailed into center field, and scored on Randy Arozarena's ground ball through a drawn-in infield, handing the Twins a bitter 2-1 loss at T-Mobile Park.

SEATTLE - Carlos Correa has some explaining to do, he knows it. His sons Kylo and Kenzo watch Twins games on TV when he's on the road, and they're going to want to know: Why did you get kicked out of Saturday night's game? Trouble is, he doesn't really know. "I did not say anything to get thrown out," Correa insisted after the first ejection of his 11-year big-league career. Even more strangely, Correa was in the on-deck circle when he was ejected.

SEATTLE - Late-inning rallies - and close plays at the plate - go both ways, it turns out. One day after the Twins, an out away from a lopsided loss, pulled off a miraculous victory, the Mariners handed the Twins an early three-run lead, then came back to disappoint them. Rookie Cole Young, making his major league debut, hit a two-out chopper in the 11th inning to ex-Mariner Ty France at first base.

SEATTLE - Apparently, hitting five home runs in six minor league games was enough for Matt Wallner to show the Twins he's ready to return to the major leagues. The Twins activated Wallner from the injured list on Saturday, sending fellow lefthanded-hitting outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. to Class AAA St. Paul to make room on the active roster. Wallner is expected to be in the lineup Saturday when the Twins play the second game of their three-game series against the Mariners.
