The NSWRL has alerted police to shocking allegations of abuse by a volunteer junior assistant coach who was allowed to work with teenage kids without the required working-with-children permit. The teenagers, who played in South Sydney juniors, have all since left the club as a result of alleged racial and physical abuse last year when complaints by parents about the man’s behaviour were largely ignored. St George area police are now investigating and interviewing parents.

Don't miss out on the headlines from NRL. Followed categories will be added to My News. And here’s the proof – the real valuations of 520 players across the 17 clubs. Every player, every club. South Sydney interim coach Ben Hornby says Damien Cook’s decision to sign with the Dragons is one of the harsh realities of the NRL salary cap, but he is very confident that young gun Peter Mamouzelos has what it takes to step up as the club’s long-term hooker. Cook had another season to run on his Rabbitohs deal but it emerged earlier in the week that the 32-year-old had signed with the Red V where he’ll likely finish his decorated career.
