Victor Espinosa has a small model of Javier Milei wielding a chainsaw on his desk and a plan for Chile that is every bit as radical as the Argentine president’s libertarian policies. The economic advisor to Chilean presidential candidate Johannes Kaiser says he would push the budget into surplus in the first month in office, cut corporate taxes, abolish the levy on inheritances and remove the capital gains tax, before introducing a voucher system for education and slashing regulations.

One says he gets bored if he stays anywhere too long, the other keeps stressing they are in it for the long haul. One is educated at Sheffield Polytechnic, the other at Colombia’s most prestigious university.
