Life challenges are unpredictable, here’s what to doI was in my 40s, a solo mum on a benefit. My children were getting older and I needed to go back to work. I’d completed a business studies course at a local Polytechnic. Buoyed by my success I decided University was my next step. I couldn’t wait to feel the buzz of being a ‘real student’. So on that Monday I was off to enroll in a Bachelor of Business Studies. An easy 200 km drive to Massey University.

Do the Suffering Know We Care? Today as I celebrate the beginning of a New Year I am reminded that my life is comfortable while others have to constantly battle adversity. Sometimes I despair at how little I can do for those whose lives are caught in wars, poverty, and injustice. Do they look and see me living my comfortable life and think I don’t care? The daily news media informs me of new and old sufferings. In my younger days I reached out and worked with the poorest of the poor.

Today the FCA has published its Consultation Paper (CP23/31) setting out its detailed proposals for listing rules reforms as part of its Primary Markets Effectiveness Review. This is the first of two consultations on the FCA’s proposed new UK Listing Rules (UKLR) sourcebook – this one focuses on the new commercial companies category and the second one will cover other categories and remaining provisions impacting all issuers.

LIFE STORIES What do I do now? I honestly can't stand the simplistic faith I used to love and my life is filled with this dead passion. Am I so fickle that I cannot remain faithful to anything? I remember when I first discovered Christianity wondering how long this phase would last. Well now I know, don't I? It lasted 26 years. That's a good length of time but it's hardly eternity.
