Heavy rainfall over the past 24-hours has led to many flooding concerns across Central Illinois. The heaviest rainfall has been primarily near the I-70 corridor with Effingham and Cumberland Counties seeing the most. Preliminary reports show a few communities totals, however, rain is not expect to stop until late tonight, so these totals will increase.

(WAND) - Excessive rainfall is expected to wrap up the workweek across central Illinois. Showers and thunderstorms will continue to build starting midmorning and linger throughout your Saturday. While a chance for some hail exists Friday, the opportunity remains less than 10 percent and isolated to the I-70 corridor. The widespread issue remains the heavy rainfall that many central Illinoisans can expect. Nearly 2.5" is forecasted for communities south of I-72 leading to flooding concerns.

(WAND) - The past few days have been focused on the chance for severe weather, however, now the attention turns to flooding concerns across the area. With recent heavy rainfall, some communities are estimated to have picked up 2" of rain. Just Thursday and Friday alone is expected to bring an additional 2" to some southern communities. Rain chances continue through this weekend, which means that some could see a total of 4-6" of rainfall by the end of this weekend.

(WAND) - Severe storms are once again a threat for central Illinoisans late afternoon into early evening on Wednesday. Severe storm chances are limited to midafternoon until 7 p.m.Storms look to develop near I-55 and may take some time before they start to produce damaging winds, large hail, or tornadoes. Therefore, storm chances increase the further east/southeast you live. Storms are quick moving and may have very little lead time similar to what we saw this past Sunday.
