Ankeny residents are concerned about a potential Walmart being built near their homes. Walmart is in preliminary discussions and has not yet purchased the land, which also would need to be rezoned. The city has requested a traffic impact study before rezoning can be considered. Homeowners who are now neighbors to a mostly empty field in Ankeny are concerned about plans for a potential Walmart to be built there.

Dallas County is moving forward with the process to add more supervisors to its county board and is nearing the first meeting of the redistricting committee that will lead that work. The Dallas County Board of Supervisors voted April 15 to appoint District 2 Supervisor Julia Helm, a Republican, and county resident Monte Button to the three-person redistricting committee.

Grimes has selected a replacement for public transit services after the city left the Des Moines Area Regional Transit system. Grimes City Council in March approved an agreement with the Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency, or HIRTA, to provide services to Grimes residents beginning in June when the city's contract with DART expires.
