A quirky Colorado festival is set to return later this month in celebration of a chicken that seemingly did the impossible. The Mike the Headless Chicken Festival will celebrate its 25th anniversary from May 30 to May 31 in Fruita. The festival is named in honor of the real-life 'headless chicken' that gave Fruita a 'claim to fame.' In the 1940s, Lloyd Olsen, a local farming family, beheaded one of their chickens. The day, however, the chicken was found to be alive.

Firefighters with Summit Fire & EMS and Red, White & Blue Fire have controlled a wildfire that broke out near the Whole Foods in Frisco on Saturday evening. According to a Facebook post from Summit Fire & EMS, the fire began in the willows near Whole Foods and was reported at about 5 p.m. The fire is estimated to be about 6.3 acres, and Interstate 70 was closed due to smoke. However, Summit Fire & EMS reports that no structures were threatened as of Saturday night.

A snowmobiler was rescued after getting lost near Rabbit Ears Peak on May 2, according to Routt County Search and Rescue (RCSAR). RCSAR said they were notified of the missing snowmobiler at 8:30 p.m. According to a Facebook post from RCSAR, the rider was last seen trying to climb a steep slope just north of Rabbit Ears Peak.

Tucked away in the mountains of the San Juan National Forest is Colorado's only true geyser. Those who venture out to find Geyser Spring will cross a bridge over a river to an easy trail that will take them through the woods, climbing up the mountain amid the smell of sulfur. According to AllTrails, the hike is 2.5 miles and has 597 feet of elevation gain. Hikers will then descend a hill and find a sign that marks the geyser.

Tucked away in a remote Colorado canyon is the world's second-largest collection of natural arches – and very few people even realize that it's there. Rattlesnake Canyon includes 35 natural arches, making it the second-largest collection of natural arches in the world after Utah's Arches National Park, according to Visit Grand Junction. Located near Grand Junction, the canyon is protected as part of the 123,400-acre McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area.
