Communities in Ranskill are benefitting from two brand-new benches, thanks to support from a Councillor Community Grant. David Bamford, the former Ward Member for Ranskill, donated £200 from his community grant allocation to fund the installation of two new benches at the junction of Great North Road and Station Road, next to the village noticeboard.

Community groups and businesses in rural areas are getting the chance to bid for a share of over £200k of the latest government funding secured by Bassetlaw District Council. Grants of up to £20k of Rural England Prosperity Funding (REPF) are being made available to support initiatives aiming to improve facilities for communities as well as supporting micro and small businesses in the district.

Retford Squash Club is building for the future thanks to a community grant from two Retford councillors that will help to boost coaching and development at the club. The club has experienced a resurgence over the last 18 months having more than doubled its membership and grown a healthy junior’s, women’s and men’s sections.

A creative sewing group in Langold is busy putting the finishing touches to a colourful celebration that will help to mark the village’s 100th anniversary this June, made possible by a £200 Councillor Community Grant. The Magpies Sewing Club, based at the Village Hall, has been hard at work designing vibrant costumes and handmade bunting for the upcoming ‘100-Year Walk’ around Langold Lake and Country Park.
