On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for the northern Sacramento Valley for elevations above 500 feet, including Redding and the City of Shasta Lake. The primary period of concern for the lower elevations is between midnight and 6:00 AM Thursday before snow levels rise rapidly, but the Winter Storm Warning spans from 10:00 PM Wednesday through 10:00 AM Thursday.

On Friday, Oct. 4, at 2:41 a.m., RPD received multiple calls of shots fired and multiple gunshot victims near Westside Road with Meadowbrook Drive in southwest Redding. When officers arrived, they reportedly found two men dead at the scene.
