    AbstractTurmeric is a centuries-old ethnomedicine in Asia. Previously our laboratory demonstrated in the adult life stage-specific (ALSS) Drosophila model of Parkinson disease (PD) that Curcumin (K)-mediated dopaminergic (DAergic) neuroprotection is absent in the transition stage of adult life during which late-onset neurodegenerative disorders like PD sets-in, suggesting its limitation as a therapeutic agent.

    Billionaire condo developer Jorge Pérez gave his South Beach penthouse to the Miami Foundation, which sold the unit for $10 million. Pérez, chairman and CEO of the Related Group, donated the four-bedroom, five-bathroom unit at 1 Collins Avenue to the downtown Miami-based nonprofit, which then flipped the condo to Lawrence Gould, property records show. The 3,339-square-foot unit sold for nearly $3,000 per square foot.

    An investor just picked up an apartment complex in one of Dallas-Fort Worth’s hottest multifamily submarkets. Knightvest Capital bought the 240-unit Encore Apartments at 4700 Tribeca Lane in Plano, according to a news release. The seller was an entity of Arizona-based Equus Management Inc., and Charles Duff signed deed documents as president of Equus. The price wasn’t disclosed, but Knightvest borrowed $40.7 million from Invesco for the purchase, deed records show.

    A bill by State Sen. Scott Weiner to exempt development projects in Downtown San Francisco from lengthy environmental review has gone belly up. Senate Bill 1227, introduced by Weiner in February, was killed after it failed to move out of a Senate Appropriations Committee, the San Francisco Business Times reported.
