For the first time in 15 years, Orestimba football will have a new man wear the head-coach headset on Friday nights. After one of the best runs in the school’s storied history, Aaron Souza on Friday, May 30, stepped down as the head coach to become the school’s assistant principal. “The rumors are true,” he confirmed in a text to The Bee on Tuesday afternoon. Souza took over the program in 2010 and is the longest-tenured coach in school history. His 101 wins are also a school record.

Curtis Washington Jr. is working smarter, not harder. His first few offseasons included extended time in the batting cages. He would take as many swings as possible, focusing on his swing path, how he was starting and where his bat was finishing. He wasn’t done until he put in what he felt was the maximum amount of work each day.
