For Hank Murphy, life is all about the beans. Bad Hambres, a ghost kitchen concept at 40th St. and Indian School Road, was born out of Murphy’s love for his favorite food: bean and cheese burritos. Around 11 years ago, he unlocked a passion for cooking beans and making burritos for friends. The Arcadia native began perfecting his recipe after moving to Kentucky for a job and realizing he had to satisfy his craving for bean and cheese burritos by making his own.

Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouting, and to achieve it, teens must complete a community service project. For Arcadia High junior and Troop 147 Scout Zack Cheke, it was a no-brainer to give back to the Gift of Mary Shelter, where his family has previously volunteered for many years. “We’ve served meals there and done other projects, so the shelter seemed like an obvious beneficiary for my Eagle project,” Zack said.

Nearly 30 years after Queen Creek Olive Mill opened, the family behind homegrown extra virgin olive oil has opened a new brick-and-mortar shop just outside Arcadia – but this business doesn’t focus on food products; it’s all about skincare. The new storefront, located at 2701 N. 24th St., celebrated its grand opening earlier this year after starting renovations in the summer of 2023. “We could move 100 percent of our production from Queen Creek to Phoenix,” Founder Brenda Rea said.

Evelyn Errante has been singing her heart out for as long as she can remember. Now, the 13-year-old has her sights set on a bright future in country music after a string of appearances at iconic venues such as Kid Rock’s Big Honky Tonk in Nashville and sports events like Phoenix Suns games and USA Pickleball National Championships. Evelyn said she is eager to make the most of every opportunity and is thankful she has her family’s full support.
