Austin Bryant's exhibit "Where They Still Remain" explores the interwoven history of Wampanoag and Black communities on Martha's Vineyard. A key story highlighted in the exhibit is the tale of Beulah Vanderhoop, a Wampanoag woman who helped escaped slave Randall Burton reach freedom. "I am the Black son of a white mother ― I've always been interested in different communities intersecting," said Bryant, who is based in Boston.
