Patients filled up ICUs and were fighting for their lives on ventilators as health care workers struggled to fight this new illness. Adam Espinoza was among the first to get seriously sick from coronavirus in 2020. But over the years, he's found a way to heal while creating heartfelt gifts for the health care workers who saved his life.

DENVER — It's now been 50 years since the fall of Saigon and with it, an end to the Vietnam War. Some people who were forced to flee their homes eventually settled in Denver. They created their own neighborhood and with it, a community. Now, historians are working to preserve their stories. DENVER — A bill requiring health care facilities across Colorado to provide emergency care to anyone who needs it will soon become law. Democratic Governor Jared Polis recently signed SB25-130. At its heart, the bill is a version at the state level of an existing federal law. Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) protections have been around federally for years.

AURORA, Colo. — Friday marked one year since the death of Kilyn Lewis. Friends, family and community members came out to the apartment parking lot where an Aurora Police officer shot and killed him last May. A crowd gathered and released balloons at 11:37 a.m., the exact time Lewis was shot a year earlier. Hours later, a group gathered in the same spot to remember Lewis, calling for accountability from APD as well as systemic changes within the department.
