The mother of former Olympic cyclist Melissa Hoskins has told an Adelaide court she accepts her daughter's death was a "tragic accident". Ms Hoskins died when she was struck by a car driven by her husband and former professional cyclist, Rohan Dennis, in December 2023. Her mother, Amanda Hoskins, told South Australia's District Court she knew Dennis would never intentionally hurt her daughter.

Youth support group Junction says many young people find it stressful when transitioning out of care. A couple from Adelaide has been arrested for allegedly falsely claiming their child had cancer — to claim tens of thousands of dollars in donations. Police say the man and woman shaved their six-year-old boy's head and eyebrows, put him in a wheelchair and applied bandages to make it look like he had received radiotherapy. It is alleged they sought donations for medical treatment and approximately $60,000 had been donated during a two-week period.

A salt mining company has paid $100,000 as part of a civil settlement following the dieback of hectares of mangrove forest in Adelaide's north. The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) settled long-running legal action against mining operator Buckland Dry Creek (BDC) in August. The EPA said about nine hectares of mangroves and 10 hectares of salt marsh adjacent to the St Kilda Mangrove Trail died between 2020-21.
