    It’s Battler Tournament weekend, with wrestlers from across the region coming to town for the annual contests. There will be teams lined up from across the region again this year to participate, with action starting on Friday night with a girls tournament called “Rumble on the Prairie” starting at 4 p.m.The first session for the boys tournament begins Saturday at 10 a.m. The championship session will take place after the wrestle backs are done.

    A new auditor has been hired for the office in Potter County. During a special meeting of the county commission on Thursday, Jan. 9, Tye VanderVorst was appointed by the commissioners to serve as the Potter County Auditor. VanderVorst fills the position vacated when Sarita Waldner left at the end of the year to start a daycare business. Deputy Auditor Kayla Warner will continue to assist in the office. -MMcR

    Three members of the Potter County Battler wrestling team placed at the Mid-Dakota Monster tournament in Presho last weekend. Pictured from left are Lane Stuwe at 132 pounds, Trace Genzler at 165 pounds, and Easton Rausch at 106. See page 6 for more from the tourney. This weekend is a big one for Battler wrestling, with the annual Battler Tourney on Saturday and the AAU youth tourney on Sunday. Friday night the Rumble on the Prairie girls tournament will be held at GHS.

    The Evergreen 4-H Club met on Sunday, January 12 at the Lutheran Church. Bobbi Eide, Wren Joachin, Chase Phillips, Kylee Phillips, Garrett Rausch, Gavin Rausch, Abby Saltsman, and Kyley Saltsman all attended. President Garrett Rausch called the meeting to order with Bobbie Eide leading the Pledge of Allegiance and Kylee Phillips leading the 4-H Pledge. The secretary’s report was read by Kyley Saltsman and was approved as read. Our Activity Director, Bobbi Eide, chose the game of Frogger.
