    Calling all horror fans! Something eerily exciting is coming to York for the first time this year. Horror-themed comic convention Horror Fest is making its debut in York in June. Featuring film guests, scary stalls, licensed merchandise, and more – this new event for the city is a must-visit for any horror fan. The York Horror Fest will take place at The Guildhall, York on Saturday 7 June 2025 from 11am to 4pm. YorkMix spoke with festival founder John Jackson to find out more.

    Unleash your creative imagination in the heart of nature – as York Theatre Royal launch a free writing group for adults this spring. Meeting at the Homestead Park Pavilion, the writing group will invite writers of all levels to take inspiration from the legacy of Rowntree Heritage and the beauty of Homestead Park. The free five week course will start on Tuesday 22 April and run until Tuesday 20 May 2025. It will take place from 10am to 12pm.
