If it had been a different student, I might have thought she’d printed out and taped the email I sent above her office desk as a joke, a way to make fun of a professor who stressed the importance of clean copy and couldn’t catch her own typos. But it was Grace, who lived up to her name. This winter quarter I came into the classroom unsure in what state I would find students. As everyone knows, it’s been a time.
