In the span of just two weeks, our Jewish Federation hosted three of the most powerful, moving, and well-attended events of our year: Yom HaShoah, Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut, and a screening of the new documentary “October 8.” Altogether, more than 480 people showed up not just in body, but in spirit. It was a whirlwind, yes. But more than that, it was a reaffirmation of something deeper: Our community shows up for what matters.

There’s something magical about summertime at the Jersey Shore–the ocean breeze, long sunny days, and most of all, the joy of coming together as a community. At the Jewish Federation, we believe connection is at the heart of everything we do– and this summer, we’re bringing that spirit to life with a lineup of events that will inspire, uplift, and bring a smile to your face.

In just a few short days, the Jewish calendar brings us Tu B’Shevat, the birthday of the trees. Tu B’Shevat is a holiday that calls us to reflect on growth, renewal, and our relationship with the natural world. For those of us in South Jersey, February often feels far from spring’s promise of blooming flowers and lush landscapes. As I write this, I can see remnants of snow on the ground and can hear blustery winds outside of my office window.
