AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTOC) - Hurricane Helene had major effects around the city of Augusta last September, and despite the perceived magic that Augusta National has to offer to the public eye, the grounds weren’t immune to the damage done around the city. AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTOC) - It’s the biggest week of the year in Augusta, and it began with rain coming out of Monday as the winner. Gates to begin the day were delayed just an hour due to rain, and by the time the horn sounded due to another incoming string of storms at 11:25 a.m., patrons had only been on the course for just over three hours. Despite a shorter-than-expected day at Augusta National, patrons were appreciative of any time they got on one of the most coveted courses in the world.
