AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTOC) - 36 of 72 holes at the 89th playing of The Masters have come and gone, and the true contenders are becoming clear. Spring boarding off a seven-under 65 on Thursday, Justin Rose remains in the lead by one stroke after a one-under 71 in round 2. Bryson DeChambeau fired a four-under 68 to jump up to solo second place at -7. Rory McIlroy had the round of the day with a six-under 66, vaulting up to a tie for third at -6 with Corey Conners.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTOC) - For the first time since 2021, Savannah native Brian Harman will play the weekend at The Masters. Harman began his week with a one-under 71 on Thursday, and followed it with an identical one-under 71 on Friday. Between the two rounds, Harman has compiled eight birdies, five bogey’s, and one double-bogey. At -2, Harman is tied for 17th with four other golfers, and six shots back of the leader Justin Rose (-8).

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - On the links in Statesboro, there’s something special brewing with the Georgia Southern women’s golf team. The Eagles had two team wins in the fall, showcasing that Mimi Burke’s group had the ability to run away with events. Over the last month in the spring season, they’ve finished every week on the schedule with a little bit of hardware. The Eagles have soared to four consecutive victories.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTOC) - Round 1 of the 89th playing of The Masters finished Thursday evening just about 12 hours after it started. At the end of 18 holes, Justin Rose paces the field at Augusta National. The Englishman matched his career best round in Augusta with a seven-under 65, the best of the day by three strokes. Rose was five-under on the front nine, and was eight-under through 16. His first and only bogey of the day came on 18 to finish the day at -7.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTOC) - Brian Harman hasn’t had much luck over his last three Masters appearances, but a one-under 71 on Thursday could see the start to a big weekend. “This place baits me into trying to be something that I’m not,” Harman said following his round. “The fairways look wide, but they’re really not that wide. You feel like you have to elevate the ball into the greens, but I don’t. If I strike a ball like I’m supposed to, I can get it up there close.
