Als Palestijns journalist schrik je nergens meer van. Ik heb alles al gezien! Ik was dan ook niet verbaasd toen ik duizenden Israëliërs, onder wie leden van de Knesset, ministers en zelfs rabbijnen, geestdriftig en verheugd zag dansen op de conferentie ‘Kolonisatie brengt ons veiligheid en de overwinning’ in Jeruzalem. Daar werd opgeroepen tot de verdrijving van de inwoners van Gaza en werden borden opgehouden waarop hun onmiddellijke verplaatsing werd geëist.

Dit is de tijd van bloed. Maar ik heb het niet over het bloed van mijn Palestijnse volk dat nog altijd in Gaza wordt vergoten, maar over dat van Joodse Israëliërs. Paradoxaal, nietwaar? Want terwijl ik dit schrijf, zijn in Gaza al zeker 20.000 Palestijnen gedood, onder wie veel burgers, en besluit ik als Palestijnse bewust om over jullie doden en niet over de onze te praten.
