Government-owned mining and power generating company NLC India has incorporated a new wholly-owned subsidiary, NLC India Green Energy (NIGEL), to take care of its renewables business. Currently, projects to the tune of 2 GW of renewable energy are under implementation and will be taken up by NIGEL, including a 600 MW solar power project in Gujarat and an 810 MW solar power project in Rajasthan. The company has been registered in Chennai and will begin its operations soon.

India-based Epsilon Group, a battery materials manufacturer, has entered into an agreement to acquire John Matthey’s Technology Center focused on lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) cathode active materials in Moosburg, Germany. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. The facility features top-tier technical capabilities and a skilled workforce specializing in LFP chemistry.

TotalEnergies, a French oil and gas major, will invest $300 million to form a new 50:50 joint venture with Adani Green Energy. The Board of Directors of Adani Green Energy approved the execution of the binding term sheet to be entered into between Adani Green Energy, Adani Green Energy Twenty-Three (AGE23L), and TotalEnergies. The purpose of the binding term sheet is to provide for further investment of $300 million by Total and modify certain terms of its investments in AGE23L.

The UAE Banks Federation (UBF) has disclosed that six major banks, including the First Abu Dhabi Bank, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, the Emirates NBD, the Dubai Islamic Bank, Mashreq, and the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, have collectively channeled over AED190 billion (~$51.72 billion) into green financing for projects involving renewable energy, waste-to-energy, and green technology as of 2022.
