BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Emergency officials confirmed five people, including two children, were taken to the hospital after a seven-car pile-up on the interstate on Thursday, May 29. The multi-vehicle crash happened around 11:10 a.m. on I-10 East near Siegen Lane. Officials said one patient is in critical condition, two patients are in serious condition, and two patients are stable. According to the Louisiana State Police (LSP), troopers are working to open the lanes to traffic.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, this happened around 9 a.m. on GlenWatts Road near Hooper Road. “While he claimed it was just a ‘snack emergency,’ our deputies kindly reminded him that dumpster diving is a bear-y bad idea,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a post on Facebook.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Investigators determined that someone intentionally set a house fire that officials say sent two people to the hospital earlier this month. The fire happened off Perkins Road on Chalmette Avenue around noon on Sunday, May 18. According to the St. George Fire Department, smoke was coming from the house when crews arrived on the scene, but one person was still inside. Firefighters rapidly deployed a hose line to enter the home safely.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A woman is facing charges after officials say she intentionally set fire to her ex-boyfriend’s boat and threatened nearby residents. Jail records show Zhanea Lee, 30, was arrested on Tuesday, May 27, on one count of aggravated arson. The incident Lee is accused of occurred on Greenwell Springs Road around 7:45 a.m. on May 16.
