Authorities said the fire happened on May 6 around 9 p.m. at a residence on Upper Drive. The Pearl Fire Department reported it was notified that two people were in the home. First responders were able to pull a woman from the burning house, later identified by family as Billie Sue, but her husband was found down in the back of the home.

According to an Alabama uniform traffic crash report, John McAdams admitted to state troopers to drinking an “unknown amount of tequila” before the crashes that spanned about 28 miles on the interstate. Authorities said the crashes occurred on May 6.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Katelin Conklin has been charged with cruelty to animals and domestic violence. The 28-year-old was arrested after the sheriff’s office said it was made aware Monday of a “disturbing” video that was posted on social media. Authorities said the video shows Conklin punching her boyfriend and choking a dog.
