He also faces misdemeanor counts of driving while license revoked, resisting a public officer and attempted contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

She is the current assistant principal at Catawba Elementary. Dr. Settlemyre has been with Catawba County Schools for 23 years. Beginning in 2000, she served as a language arts teacher at Maiden Middle School, where she was named Catawba County Schools Teacher of the Year in 2013.

On Friday, June 13, Lincoln County Detectives received a call from a Home Depot Organized Retail Crime Investigator regarding the sale of a stolen Kubota tractor at the Murphy’s Express store in Denver, North Carolina on June 11. The Kubota tractor was stolen from a Home Depot store in Asheville. The tractor was valued at over $19,000.
Indictments Announced in June 1 Mountain View Mass Shooting

A briefing was held at the Catawba County Justice Center this morning (June 24) regarding the ongoing investigation into the June 1 mass shooting in Mountain View. 58-year-old Shawn Patrick Hood was killed in the incident. Catawba County Sheriff Don Brown opened today’s briefing. He was joined by District Attorney Scott Reilly and Agents with the F.B.I., the S.B.I., and A.L.E. Major Aaron Turk with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office also spoke to members of the media.

Bryant was jailed in Alexander County Friday (June 20) after he was transferred from custody in Catawba County where he faces charges for assault on a female, a crime of domestic violence, and injury to personal property.
Injured Hiker Rescued on Conley Cove Trail

Early this morning (June 23), Burke County Emergency Management was notified of an injured hiker along the Conley Cove Trail. A swift and coordinated response was initiated involving Burke E.M.S., Burke E.M.S. Special Operations, Burke Rescue, Oak Hill Fire Rescue, and Linville Central Rescue. A total of 17 personnel participated in the rescue operation. The hiker, who sustained a lower extremity injury, received immediate medical attention on-site.
Flooding Reported in Caldwell County

The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office has reported flooding in the Valmead area on Blairs Fork Road and Indian Grave Road. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution as floodwaters go down and damage is assessed. At last report, roads and driveways in the northern end of the county were still flooded. Motorists should never drive through floodwaters.

Whitener Municipal Building (City Hall) in the 3rd Floor Conference Room. That meeting is set for 4 p.m. Also on Monday, the 23rd, the Ridgeview Neighborhood Association will meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Ridgeview Recreation Center. At 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, the Business Development Committee will meet at City Hall in the Map Conference Room.
