Sheriff's Office CRIME20-year-old William Connor Roberts of Statesville has been arrested by Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies on charges of assault by pointing a gun, going armed to the terror of the people, disorderly conduct by fighting, and possession of marijuana. Deputies were called to the Alexander County Fairgrounds Saturday (April 12) in response to reports of a man causing a disturbance. Roberts was taken into custody.

Lenoir-Rhyne University has selected Summer McGee, Ph.D, as the institution’s 13th president. Her appointment was approved by the Lenoir-Rhyne Board of Trustees after a national search. Dr. McGee will succeed Fred Whitt, Ph.D, who served as Lenoir-Rhyne’s president since 2017. She will assume the presidency at L-R on July 1. Dr. McGee is the current president of Salem Academy & College in Winston-Salem where she has served since 2021.

Sheriff's Office CRIME19-year-old Giovanni Judel Camacho of Maiden was arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officers on April 13 on felony counts of fleeing to elude arrest, breaking & entering, and larceny after breaking & entering, along with numerous other traffic offenses. He was arrested in connection with an incident on April 2 when Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle after it left a Denver business at a high rate of speed.

53-year-old Codi Lynn Sharp of Taylorsville has been arrested by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers on 11 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. Sharp was jailed under a $1,050,000 secured bond. A first appearance in District Court was set for April 21. The investigation is ongoing with more charges possible in the future.
