NEWSBeginning Wednesday, May 14, contractors working on OLLE Art Walk construction will close the intersection of 9th Street N.W., 2nd Avenue N.W., and 3rd Avenue Court N.W. to mill and resurface the roadway. Detour routes will be established and clearly marked. The work may take up to three days to complete, weather permitting. 23-year-old Matthew Elijah Newell of Sherrills Ford has been arrested and charged with three counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure and two counts of felony fleeing to elude arrest. His arrest is the result of an ongoing indecent exposure investigation. The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying additional victims. The reported incidents involve inappropriate and unlawful exposure at the Publix grocery store in Sherrill’s Ford.

He is Barett Ashley Baxter (a.k.a. Ashley Barrett Baxter). Mr. Baxter was last seen on April 26 at an address on Alf Hoover Road in Lincolnton. He was wearing a tee shirt, jean shorts, and tennis shoes. Mr. Baxter was driving a black 2021Toyota Tundra Crew Max truck with North Carolina license plate #VER9384.
