Abstract Purpose To compare clinical outcomes of bilateral implantation of hybrid multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) versus mix-and-match implantation of hybrid multifocal and extended-depth-of-focus (EDOF) versus mix-and-match implantation of hybrid multifocal and enhanced monofocal IOLs. Methods Patients with bilateral age-related cataract were randomised in one of three groups: group 1, bilateral hybrid multifocal IOL; group 2, EDOF in the dominant eye, hybrid multifocal in the...

AbstractTo develop and test a parameter for early keratoconus screening by quantifying the localized epithelial thickness differences in keratoconic eyes. The cross-sectional study included 189 eyes of 116 subjects in total: 86 eyes of 54 keratoconus patients with bilateral ectasia and 40 eyes of 20 healthy subjects in the parameter-development dataset and 42 eyes of 21 keratoconus patients with asymmetric ectasia and 21 eyes of 21 healthy subjects in the parameter-validation dataset.

IntroductionAccording to a recent European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery's Clinical Trends Survey, the majority of intraocular lenses (IOLs) implanted are monofocal IOLs, accounting for approximately 90% of IOLs used in crystalline lens exchange. Considering this significant number of lens implants performed annually, a detailed analysis of the optics of modern monofocal lenses may be overdue.
