Another quiet, beautiful day is ahead for the middle of the week as a ridge of high pressure keeps things stable. Temperatures will be a bit milder Wednesday as highs make it into the low to mid-60s by the afternoon. It’s going to be breezy at times, but not much compared to the wind we’ve felt the last couple days. The ridge moves east and a trough of low pressure will begin to affect the region Thursday.

Clouds cleared out quickly this morning and we got a nice dose of sunshine this Tuesday. Winds were gusty, occasionally pushing 40mph but quieted down in the evening. Here’s a look at the climate stats for Tuesday, April 15th.

A strong, northwest wind will continue Tuesday, although it won’t be as strong as Monday’s winds. Clouds may linger early in the day, but we can look forward to more sunshine late Tuesday morning through the afternoon along with seasonably mild high temperatures. Winds shift early Wednesday, helping to boost temperatures back into the lower 60s Wednesday for a comfortably mild, quiet day.

The week is off to a cool and windy start with gusts Monday afternoon nearing 45 to 50mph in some parts of southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. A wave of low pressure is bringing increasing clouds Monday evening and scattered showers to parts of southern Minnesota and north Iowa. While temperatures are a bit below average to start the week, they’ll be nudging upward into the lower 60s later this week. Clouds will linger Tuesday morning but will clear out nicely for a brighter Tuesday afternoon.
