LYNNWOOD — Time is running out for travelers to become REAL ID compliant. By May 7, all travelers must be REAL-ID compliant to board domestic flights and access certain federal facilities. In 2005, Congress approved the REAL ID Act, which enacted the 9/11 Commission’s recommendation to establish minimum security standards for all driver’s licenses and identification cards. It was supposed to go into effect in 2008 but has been repeatedly delayed.

A $2 million federal grant will help more than 2,000 laid-off Boeing workers in Snohomish and King counties with job training and employment services. Workforce Snohomish, Future Workforce Alliance of Snohomish County, and the Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County will help administer the grant. In October 2024, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg announced the company would lay off 17,000 workers worldwide, about 10% of its workforce.

EVERETT — The official grand opening is Friday but sushi lovers are already aware of Kura Revolving Sushi Bar. During its soft opening on April 2, a long line formed outside the latest conveyor belt sushi restaurant — this one located in the H Mart Plaza in Lynnwood. On some nights since April 2, sushi lovers waited more than an hour to be seated. It’s about food, of course, but also entertainment.

EVERETT — Samantha Love, an autism specialist who helped reduce the long list of children waiting to be tested for the disorder, was named the winner of The Herald Business Journal’s Emerging Leader award on Tuesday night. Event coordinator Kathy Solberg announced the winner in front of more than 100 people including 11 other nominees or their representatives at APEX Everett. It was the 10th year where the best and brightest of Snohomish County under 40 were honored for their service.
