    A starting position in the front row was no guarantee for success in any of the six “A” features at Off Road Speedway Saturday night. In fact, row two produced more winners–three–than any other grid location, and a couple drivers made it into Victory Lane from well back in the field. Cory Dumpert, Off Road Speedway’s IMCA Late Models track champion a year ago, got his first win of the 2025 season at the track after making the most of a second row starting spot.

    The Norfolk High girls tennis squad lost in dual action to Sergeant Bluff-Luton Thursday afternoon. The Warriors controlled singles play, winning all six varsity matches, and also came out on top in two of the three doubles competitions, while accumulating an 8-1 victory. But Panthers coach Kaleb Kreikemeier felt that his squad showed characteristics suggesting a positive stretch run the remainder of the season.

    The Southeastern Community College baseball team brought a top of the line resume with them to Veterans Memorial Field Monday afternoon to face Northeast Community College in a regular season series make-up game. The Blackhawks, with a 41-10 overall record and 25-3 mark in Iowa Community College Conference play–along with a No. 5 nation ranking among NJCAA DII teams–were in Norfolk to complete the third game of a regular season series with the Hawks that had been postponed on March 29.

    The race of the night occurred in the IMCA Hobby Stocks “A” feature where the winner–Joe Beller–held sole possession of the lead for all of a single lap. Beller’s first attempt was nullified by a caution that prevented the Norfolk driver’s pass of race leader Mark Arduser midway through the 15-lap race from being official, since a complete lap was not completed.
