The South African National Road Agency Limited (Sanral) has issued an update on its Eastern Cape Intelligent Transport System (ITS) project. This was the first such project in the province. The ITS would keep drivers informed of road travel conditions on the national roads, in real time. “The technology that is used on ITS enables us to respond speedily to incidents on our national roads,” said Sanral Eastern Cape Provincial Head Mbulelo Peterson.

Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) is pursuing the automation and digitalisation of air cargo, ACSA CEO Mpumi Mpofu assured the inaugural International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Global Air Cargo Summit. (ICAO was the specialist agency of the UN which oversaw global commercial aviation; the summit was being held in Antalya, in Türkiye.)She also called for the streamlining of trade processes and “smarter” infrastructure, to improve efficiency and competitiveness, globally.

UK-based brand valuation consultancy Brand Finance has reported that, perhaps surprisingly, in its latest survey US aerospace giant Boeing remained the most valuable aerospace and defence brand in the world (and for the tenth year in a row). Despite being beset with multiple quality control issues in its commercial airplane, defence and space businesses, Boeing’s brand valuation rose to $18.2-billion, a 12% increase, year-on-year.
