The Virginia Department of Transportation will delay by several weeks the installation of temporary signals on the Route 42 bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. The signals were to be installed just northwest of Morgan Drive in the Nicelytown area of Alleghany County, approximately 1.5 miles north of Interstate 64 exit 29. Crews are performing bridge maintenance and paving, but contractors for the signal work will be unavailable for the rest of April.

Last summer Blue Ridge Community College and Waynesboro High School partnered to offer a Summer Workforce Academy, providing workforce training for qualifying graduates. Students experienced CORE Craft Safety Credential, OSHA 10, Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) and Forklift. The success of the project resulted in all participants meeting with employers and receiving job offers at its conclusion.

Staunton, Augusta County and Waynesboro schools are bringing football to middle schools in all three school systems. Waynesboro School Board approved middle school football and cheer starting with the 2025-2026 school year at its regular meeting Tuesday night. Augusta County Schools has already begun preparations.

Waynesboro School Board approved a contract with Kjellstrom and Lee Construction of Fishersville as construction manager for the next phase of renovations at Waynesboro High School. The construction company’s bid is $3,980,305 for renovations including demolition of the 1970s wing, construction of a new wing of classrooms, a new gymnasium, and improvements to baseball and football facilities.
